We believe access to education is a right, not a privilege. Academun is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA and to work for every learner, regardless of ability.

Visual Accessibility

  • Scalable UI — all text and layouts support up to 200% zoom
  • Descriptive alt text on all meaningful images

Keyboard Navigation

  • Full keyboard navigability throughout the platform
  • Logical tab order following visual hierarchy
  • Skip-to-main-content link on every page
  • No keyboard traps — all interactive elements are reachable

Screen Reader Support

  • Semantic HTML5 landmarks and headings
  • ARIA labels and roles on interactive controls
  • Live regions for dynamic status updates
  • Tested with NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver

Motion & Color

  • Reduced-motion mode respects user OS preferences
  • No information conveyed by color alone
  • Captions and transcripts for all video content
  • No flashing content above 3 Hz threshold

Touch & Pointer

  • Touch targets at least 44x44px
  • Pointer gesture alternatives available
  • Works across desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers
  • Responsive layouts at any viewport size

Known limitations

We are transparent about areas still in progress:

Video player custom controls are not yet fully keyboard accessible — we are rebuilding the player interface.

Some PDF resources in the Download Vault may not have embedded accessibility tags.

The mobile sidebar menu does not yet announce open/close state to all screen readers.
